| Pregnancy CareSome of the doctors consulting at GCMC provide shared antenatal care for women planning for their babies to be delivered at Bendigo Health or St John of God Hospital. Shared Care means that you will only be required to visit the hospital a few times during your pregnancy, with your GP providing the remainder of your antenatal care. Comprehensive communication between your GP and the hospital ensures continuity of care. It is often more convenient for women to visit their GP. This also may reduce the waiting times at hospital and reduce time away from work and family. Your GP will usually require an initial 20-minute consultation with you to discuss your Shared Care plan. Usually, your doctor will recommend a 6-week check-up after the birth of your baby. In this appointment, your doctor will perform a 20-minute consultation with you and a 15-minute consultation with your baby. The consultation with your baby can be bulk-billed, if your baby is registered with Medicare. Your doctor will require you to bring your green baby book and any other documents you receive from the hospital. |
